Calendar of Programs from September 2010 - September 17, 2011
The Program Director is Linda Fritsche Castner, part-owner/operator of Alexandria Field Airport in Pittstown, NJ. The airport is serving as a program co-sponsor. The programs include offerings for pre-school, K through 12, and college levels, ending in corporate internships. As a small general aviation airport, Alexandria Field will act as a "Living Laboratory" to accomplish many of the DOT goals. The program will share the excitement of aviation with students, stimulating their interest in transportation through hands on experience with small aircraft and aviators, and demonstrating the possibilities that result from studies in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) areas. The airport will open fields of technology by incorporating engineering through the airport facility lens.
The programs will begin with awareness and provide support for students and teachers throughout the educational process therefore allowing for greater retention resulting in an increased, qualified Transportation System Workforce.
This site presents what happened during the year-long grant and is for your review.
